Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves have been set to co-star in former “Parks and Recreation” alum Aziz Ansari’s new comedy film “Good Fortune”. The “Master of None” star will write and direct the feature project for Lionsgate.
Plot specifics are under wraps. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group head Joe Drake says: “We have indeed found good fortune with this film. We love the script and believe strongly in Aziz as both a performer and a director.”
He continues, saying: “When you add in Seth and Keanu – two incredible world-class talents – toplining alongside Aziz, this has the potential to be a very special film for us. We moved quickly to land this project once it was available.”
Ansari was set to make his feature directorial debut on the Searchlight project “Being Mortal” last year but production was suspended halfway through after an investigation was started into an on-set complaint of inappropriate behaviour involving actor Bill Murray. It never resumed.
Filming begins next month in Los Angeles, keeping plot details under wraps. Anthony Katagas (“Armageddon Time”), Alan Yang (“Loot”), and Ansari will produce. Lionsgate is set to launch sales for the film at Cannes next month.
