“Only Murders” S3 Loses Two Faces

Hulu

The currently in production third season of Hulu’s “Only Murder in the Buildings” will be missing two of The Arconia’s residents from the first two outings of the show.

Actors Amy Ryan and Nathan Lane, who played Jan and Teddy Dimas respectively, won’t return for the new run. The pair were both regulars in the first season and had recurring roles in the second.

Both characters ended up in prison for differing reasons by the second season’s end. Both actors also star in Ari Aster’s released new film “Beau is Afraid” and have been promoting the film together.

Naturally, they were asked about their potential return by ComicBook.com, and say it’s not happening whilst cracking jokes about the inclusion of the new season’s major guest star Meryl Streep:

Lane: “Only Meryl in the Building. Well, no, I am not. No. I’ve been doing a play, so I’ve not been able to be a part of it, but my character is probably in jail now, so I don’t know. Maybe in a future season?”

Ryan: “Only Meryl in the Building. No. I’m still in jail too.”

The pair then suggested their two characters should team up with Meryl while in prison to try and get their revenge against the loveable trio of true crime-loving podcasters Charles, Oliver, and Mabel (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez).

In the new season, they reunite to figure out who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), who dies on stage on the opening night of Oliver and Charles’ new play.

Also onboard for the new season are Tina Fey, Vanessa Aspillaga, Adina Verson and Ryan Broussard, along with new to the show Jesse Williams who plays a documentarian with interest in the Arconia building and his own set of secrets.

Hulu says the show is its most popular original comedy and spent nine weeks in Nielsen’s top 10 streaming series chart in 2022. The third season is likely to air around August/September.
