Glen Powell In Talks For “Twisters”

NBC Universal

Following its rumor which emerged yesterday, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Devotion” star Glen Powell is now reportedly in talks to star opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones in the “Twister” sequel “Twisters” at Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.

“Minari” helmer Lee Isaac Chung is directing the film from a script by “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith. The film is said to be standalone from the previous 1996 film and is being dubbed a ‘new chapter’ of the original.

That original starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Carey Elwes and Philip Seymour Hoffman and followed storm chasers trying to get floating sensors into the center of various tornados as they touch down.

Jan De Bont (“Speed”) helmed the original from a script by author Michael Crichton whilst Steven Spielberg executive produced.

Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing the new take for the Kennedy/Marshall Company and Warner Bros. Pictures. “Twisters” is set to release on July 19th 2024.

Powell has been in Sydney, Australia for much of the year so far filming Sony’s untitled Will Gluck rom-com alongside Sydney Sweeney. He has Richard Linklater’s action-comedy “Hitman,” Chris Morgan’s sci-fi thriller “Deputy X” and buddy comedy “Foreign Relations” alongside Nick Jonas on the way.
