The X-Files: Albuquerque
FOX will not be moving forward on “The X-Files: Albuquerque,” an animated comedy spinoff of the live-action supernatural drama classic. The project was first announced back in August 2020.
Original series creator Chris Carter was attached to executive produce the show about an office full of misfit agents who investigate X-Files cases too wacky, ridiculous or dumb for Mulder and Scully to bother with. [Source: TV Line]
True Lies
CBS’s network version of “True Lies” has proven a solid early performer in ratings and streaming. Paramount says the Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga-led series ranks as CBS’s third-largest premiere this season on both Paramount+ and CBS TV, beaten only by “Ghosts” and “Fire Country”.
Debuting on March 1st, the first season is averaging 4.6 million total linear viewers across its first four weeks. The premiere episode itself has risen to 5.73 million viewers in its first few weeks. [Source: Variety]
Killer Heat
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Richard Madden are set to star in filmmaker Philippe Lacote’s love triangle thriller “Killer Heat” at Amazon Studios and Makeready. Roberto Bentivegna (“House of Gucci”) penned the script for Killer Heat with revisions by Matt Charman. Filming begins in May in Crete.
The film is based on the novel “The Jealousy Man” from Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbo (“The Snowman,” “Headhunters”). The story follows twin brothers caught in a violent love triangle on a remote Greek island. A damaged local detective with a nose for jealousy is called in to investigate a murder. [Source: THR]
The Muppets Mayhem
Streaming giant Disney+ has announced a May 10th launch date for the comedy series “The Muppets Mayhem” starring Lilly Singh and the Muppets. “The Goldbergs” creator Adam F. Goldberg developed and is writing the series.
The series will follow The Electric Mayhem Band, the old-school Muppet band who set out to record their first studio album in the current day music scene. Singh will play the (human) lead role of Nora, a driven junior A&R executive tasked with managing and wrangling the band.
