“Sonic” Murder Mystery Game Released

Headcannon

Releasing just before the arrival of April Fool’s Day tomorrow, SEGA has premiered the free video game “The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog” on Steam.

A point-and-click visual novel game developed by Headcannon, the title sees the player talking to various characters from the Sonic series to investigate the mysterious circumstances of Sonic’s apparent death at Amy Rose’s birthday.

Having gathered on the train, the Mirage Express, to celebrate, a fictional murder scenario is devised. The trouble is, Sonic is soon found and seemingly deceased. The player must investigate the environments of the different carriages and interrogate the characters to find out who committed the murder.

During interrogations, the gameplay can switch to an isometric perspective in which the player controls Sonic running through a level. If they collect enough rings, the player can advance in their investigation.

The game reportedly takes around 70 minutes to complete. The release follows in the wake of a busy time for the Sonic franchise with a third film on the way along with more “Sonic Prime” TV episodes and in the wake of the release of “Sonic Frontiers” which has sold three million copies as of this month.
