FX used last night’s Oscars ceremony to tease its upcoming slate including a 30-second spot for the highly anticipated second season of its multiple award-winner “The Bear” along with a 60-second spot for its overall slate of new shows.
Jeremy Allen White leads the cast of “The Bear” which follows a young classically-trained chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s Italian beef sandwich shop after his brother’s death.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Abby Elliott co-star. Created by Christopher Storer, the second season will run for a slightly longer ten episodes and will focus on the new restaurant’s opening. It launches in June.
The 60-second spot on the other hand is more a showreel of various series from plenty of the networks existing shows, to those that have already had clips like the new Olivia Colman-led “Great Expectations” adaptation and the docoseries “Dear Mama”.
There’s also the first footage from the highly anticipated “Justified: City Primeval” which sees Timothy Olyphant reprising his famed role of Raylon Givens who this time is hunting down a serial killer (Boyd Holbrook).
Also comes first clips from the Brian Tyree Henry and Kate Mara thriller series “Class of ’09” about ex-FBI agents who reunite following a friend’s death. As it’s a more generalised reel, there are no dates mentioned.
