Rogen Unveils “Ninja Turtles” Reboot Cast

Paramount Pictures

Producer Seth Rogen has announced the official cast for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon’s CG-animated “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” feature reboot.

Rogen unveiled his cast Saturday, joined onstage by the new turtles at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The quartet includes Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo) and Brady Noon (Raphael).

In addition, Jackie Chan will voice wise rat mentor Splinter, Ayo Edebiri is reporter April O’Neil, whilst Rogen himself will voice Bebop alongside John Cena as Rocksteady.

Other cast members include Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Ice Cube as Superfly, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Post Malone as Ray Fillet and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.

The film begins as the Turtle brothers seek to win the hearts of New Yorkers by performing heroic acts they hope will get them accepted as normal teenagers.

Meanwhile, they take on a mysterious crime syndicate with the help of new friend April O’Neil but find themselves over their heads when a mutant army is unleashed. The project marks Nickelodeon’s first theatrical CG-animated movie.

Jeff Rowe (“Gravity Falls,” “The Mitchells vs. the Machines”) directs from a screenplay written by Brendan O’Brien (“Neighbors: Sorority Rising”) with the tone said to be akin to a coming-of-age story. Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver produce.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” opens in cinemas on August 4th with a trailer set to be released on Monday.
