Illumination and Nintendo have unveiled a new horizontal poster for the upcoming “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”. In addition, they’ve announced the film’s final trailer will be shown during a Nintendo Direct that is scheduled for March 9th at 2pm US-PT.
The new poster offers a look at Mario, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Toad, and Cranky Kong on the famed Rainbow Road track from the Mario Kart series.
The film marks the first adaptation of the franchise, and a Nintendo property, since 1993’s infamous live-action take. The new trailer shows off a first look at Princess Peach and Donkey Kong in the clip along with showcasing more of the performances and even a bit of Mario Kart.
The voice cast for the film includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
Mario’s traditional voice actor, Charles Martinet, will also be involved in the film which Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic direct from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel.
“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is slated to open in cinemas internationally starting on March 30th, with the U.S. release taking place on April 7th.
