Though Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror served as the villain of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” his first MCU appearance came in the first season finale of “Loki” as the Kang variant known as ‘He Who Remains’.
SPOILERS AHEAD for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”
“Loki” remains the most viewed of the various Marvel Studios shows. With the recently announced slowdown of Marvel’s slate, it’s now looking like its second season and the event series “Secret Invasion” could well be the only Marvel shows premiering on Disney+ this year.
Having Majors return to “Loki” isn’t unusual considering the way the show’s first season ended. The possibility was also recently teased in the ‘Quantumania’ end credits where one of the stingers was essentially a clip from the new “Loki” run rather than a specifically crafted piece.
Now a new report from The Cosmic Circus indicates that Majors will have “a far more present role” in the show’s second season with the “Creed III” and “Lovecraft Country” star expected to appear in at least three episodes of the show’s six-episode run.
How many versions of Kang will appear in the series isn’t revealed though ‘Quantumania’ showed off at least one variant in the form of Victor Timely who will likely appear, and the site claims the ‘council of Kangs’ see in the film stinger may be referenced but won’t appear.
The new season is expected to follow Loki and Mobius travelling across timelines and dealing with the fallout of the first season when the death of He Who Remains unleashed the multiverse.
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead of “Synchronic” and “The Endless” fame take over as directors of the full second season after previously directing the second and fourth episodes of Marvel’s “Moon Knight”.
A launch date for the new season has yet to be announced.
