Lionsgate has released a behind-the-scenes featurette for “John Wick: Chapter 4,” the clip showcasing how the film’s action sequences take things to the next level.
In the clip we see Reeves, already a skilled fighter with plenty of training, going through 12 weeks of intense additional training here to pull off the new film’s complex fight sequences. The clip also gives us a look at his new ally Akira (Rina Sawayama).
Spanning Japan, Jordan, Germany, France and the U.S., the new entry sees Reeves’ John Wick getting ready to take on the High Table following the events of the third film. He finds himself challenging The Marquis (Bill Skarsgard) in order to have his past transgression absolved.
Regulars to the franchise that return include Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick are back while Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins and Clancy Brown co-star in the new entry as both allies and villains.
The film is directed by Chad Stahelski from a screenplay co-written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Stahleski recently told Empire that the film boasts “multiple storylines. The movie feels different. It feels more epic.”
Clocking in at a considerable 169 minutes, “John Wick: Chapter 4” is set to open in cinemas on March 24th. The new film comes ahead of “The Continental” TV series later this year which sadly failed to materialise a teaser last week during ‘Wick Week’.
A spin-off starring Ana de Armas titled “Ballerina” is currently in production.
