Gillian Anderson (“The Crown,” “The X-Files”) and Rufus Sewell (“Dark City,” “The Man in the High Castle”) have scored the lead roles in the film “Scoop” which deals with the Prince Andrew scandal.

The film will go into the story of how The BBC’s “Newsnight” program obtained November 2019’s bombshell interview which went into Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Anderson plays journalist Emily Maitlis who conducted the interview whilst Sewell will play Prince Andrew himself. Based on former Sam McAlister’s work “Scoops,” the new project hails from screenwriter Peter Moffat (‘Your Honor,” “Cambridge Spies”).

The interview had such an impact that Andrew was banished from royal duties and was in absentia at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festivities. The film is being backed by production companies The Lighthouse and Voltage TV.
