FX & BBC have released the very brief teaser trailer for “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight’s new six-part limited series “Great Expectations” based on the classic Charles Dickens novel.
The coming-of-age story follows Pip (played by Fionn Whitehead as an adult, Tom Sweet as a child), an orphan who yearns for a greater lot in life until a twist of fate introduces him to the mysterious and eccentric Miss Havisham (Olivia Colman) and Estella (Shalom Brune-Franklin), showing him a dark world of possibilities.
Under the great expectations placed upon him, Pip will have to work out the cost of this new world and whether it will truly make him the man he wishes to be. The clip shows off first glimpses of Pip and Miss Havisham in the run.
Also starring are Matt Berry (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Ashley Thomas (“Top Boy”), Johnny Harris (“The Salisbury Poisonings”), Hayley Squires (“The Essex Serpent”), Owen McDonnell (“Killing Eve”), Laurie Ogden (“The Colour Room”), Trystan Gravelle (“Baptiste”) and Rudi Dharmalingam (“The Split”).
Knight, Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe and Tommy Bulfin executive produce while Brady Hood and Samira Radsi direct.
The limited series will air in the spring on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and the star section of Disney+ everywhere else.
