It was FX’s turn at the Television Critics Association press tour today, and the big news is that its “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off series “Mayans M.C.” is set to end with the upcoming fifth season to be the show’s last.
In the new season, Ezekiel ‘EZ’ Reyes (JD Pardo), his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas), and the rest of the Santo Padre M.C. face retaliation from other chapters after a failed attempt to align under one King.
Meanwhile, EZ and Angel have grown distant from their father Felipe (Edward James Olmos), after a heart-wrenching betrayal. The final run is expected to air sometime this year on FX.
FX Networks chairman John Landgraf also says Noah Hawley’s long-awaited “Alien” series will finally begin shooting this year:
“Noah is currently in production on the fifth season of Fargo but he’s in active preproduction on Alien. He’s written scripts. I think he’s meeting with his production designer in Austin this weekend, gearing up for production this year after he completes the fifth season of Fargo.”
Previously Landgraf specified that the series takes place before Ripley, specifically it unfolds around the end of the 21st century, and is the first story within the solo “Alien” franchise to take place on Earth. There will be no returning characters from any of the films.
Finally, Dave Burd’s comedy series “Dave” has set a premiere date for its third season which will arrive Wednesday, April 5th, on FXX and stream the next day on Hulu.
