The first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film has been spotted in cinemas with people photographing the clip and putting screencaps across social media.
The caps show star Margot Robbie looking like old-school Barbie in a stunning black-and-white striped swimsuit, Simu Liu leading a bunch of other guys all dressed in black, and an all too brief glimpse of Ryan Gosling as Ken alongside some workout buddies. Other shots showcase a lavish pink suburbia setting and Robbie apparently doing a dance number.
The new trailer is reportedly playing before all screenings of James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” alongside the new trailer from Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” which it is opening against on the same day – July 21st 2023.
This has naturally led to the reignition of the fun and competitive ‘Are you Team Oppenheimer or Team Barbie?’ debate on Twitter. Both trailers are playing exclusively in cinemas for now, though hopefully will be online next week. UPDATE: The “Barbie” trailer will be released online tomorrow.
“Oppenheimer,” “Creed III” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” are also getting special IMAX featurettes and clips in front of IMAX only screenings of “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
