SPOILERS AHEAD FOR “BLACK ADAM”
Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films’ “Black Adam” initially starts out with Intergang as an antagonistic element in the movie before the third act brings in the film’s real villain – Sabbac.
The character was never really present throughout the film’s promotion and marketing until about a month before release in a trailer and stills (see above). Even then, his involvement was minimised.
Otherwise, the marketing focused entirely on either Johnson or the various members of the Justice Society of America – to the point it wasn’t quite clear who they were fighting beyond Adam himself.
Last week, timed with the film’s release on PVOD platforms, comes official new concept art that showcases a very different design for Sabbac than what we saw in the final film.
The movie’s concept artist Christian Scheurer shared unused character designs in an Instagram post, confirming Sabbac was initially going to be 26 feet tall. In addition, the horned villain wasn’t initially colored red but rather grey with a chest that generates light.
