Team Ninja has shot down a report that it is currently developing reboots of two of its biggest game franchises – “Ninja Gaiden” and “Dead or Alive”.
The reports began over the weekend when studio head Fumihiko Yasuda was speaking at a presentation that had a slide looking at the studio’s future.
The slide had pictures from the two aforementioned franchises on it, with Yasuda reportedly saying he was “working to bring fans more news as soon as possible” in regards to both franchises.
That quickly led to talk of reboots or remakes on the way. VGC, who reported the original story, has since been contacted by the studio who tell them that while those franchises are important, Team Ninja has nothing to announce at this time:
“It goes without saying that when speaking about the development of our past and future projects, both of these important titles cannot be left without mention.
However, there are no details or information to share on either of these franchises at this present time. Like many of our dedicated fans, we share the enthusiasm for the return of these beloved titles. And we will be sure to provide a proper update (if any) when that day arrives.”
Team Ninja is currently working on “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty” for all platforms, with that title hitting in March. They also have PS5-exclusive “Rise of the Ronin” slated for 2024.
