ABC Scraps David E. Kelley’s “Avalon”

Neve Campbell To Lead Abcs Avalon
Netflix

ABC has pulled the David E. Kelley-produced series “Avalon,” starring Neve Campbell, from its 2022-23 slate.

THR reports that the show’s first episode had finished filming, but nothing beyond that. A+E Studios is now exploring options to find “Avalon” another home.

The project hails from “The Lincoln Lawyer” TV series team of Campbell, creator/executive producer David E. Kelley and author Michael Connelly based on a short story the latter wrote. Kelley penned the pilot.

It unfolds in the main city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where L.A. Sheriff Department Detective Nicole ‘Nic’ Searcy (Campbell) heads up a small office to serve a population of over one million tourists a year. Searcy is pulled into a career-defining mystery that will challenge everything she knows about herself and the island.

The project scored a straight-to-series order in February with Dana Calvo onboard as showrunner in April. Steven Pasquale, Alexa Mansour, Demetrius Grosse and Roslyn Ruff also star.
