Writers Already Planning “Rick & Morty” S9

Adult Swim

Whilst Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” had huge gaps between seasons in its early days, recently the show has been more consistent in terms of delivering episodes.

We do know due to the large deal made with creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the show is essentially guaranteed to run a full ten seasons. At present, the second half of the sixth season is about to go to air.

Speaking with Slashfilm this week, Sarah Chalke who plays Beth and Chris Parnell who plays Jerry asked how far along they are in terms of recording the show. Chalke says she’s recorded the first two episodes of the seventh season.

Parnell confirmed he had recorded “at least a couple,” and then added about the show’s writer: “they were also talking about how I think they’re about to start breaking stories for season 9.”

That would suggest things are running further ahead than expected considering the ninth season likely won’t go to air until 2025 at the earliest.

Despite the original deal seemingly concluding at the tenth season, Roiland said earlier this year that he has no plans to end the show anytime soon.

“Rick and Morty” returns with new episodes beginning November 20th on Adult Swim.
