72-year-old former late-night talk show icon Jay Leno has been seriously injured by a fire that broke out in his Los Angeles car garage.

The ex “Tonight Show” host was reportedly taken to Grossman Burn Center with “serious burns” to his face according to TMZ. Leno issued a statement saying: “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am OK. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

Leno reportedly cancelled an appearance at a financial conference in Las Vegas on Sunday night due to a health issue that brought up the question of what happened. An email to attendees said: “a very serious medical emergency… is preventing Jay from travelling”.

Leno reportedly owns about 180 vintage and exotic cars and roughly 160 motorcycles. Since leaving “The Tonight Show” in 2014 after more than twenty years on the job, he has produced the successful CNBC series “Jay Leno’s Garage”, which has run for seven seasons.
