Legendary Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli announced today on Twitter that they are working on a mysterious project with Lucasfilm.
No details about the new project were offered, though the pair did recently team up for an episode of “Star Wars: Visions”. It’s expected the mysterious project is somehow related to this.
Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata’s Studio Ghibli has produced 23 animated features over more than three decades, collecting dozens of awards in the process, including the Oscar for Best Animated Feature for “Spirited Away”.
“Star Wars: Visions” is an anthology of short non-canon stories set in a galaxy far, far away. A second season was ordered, which will see studios from the United States, the UK, South Africa, Chile, Spain, France, and India contributing.
