“IT” Prequel Series Sets Its Showrunners

Warner Bros. Pictures

Jason Fuchs (“Wonder Woman”) and Brad Caleb Kane (“Tokyo Vice,” “Fringe”) are set to serve as co-showrunners on the “IT” prequel series currently in the works at HBO Max.

Currently going by the working title “Welcome to Derry,” the project has a series production commitment. The show will serve as a prequel to the 2017 & 2019 film adaptations of the iconic Stephen King novel.

Fuchs wrote the teleplay for the first episode of the series, based on a story he wrote alongside Andy and Barbara Muschietti. Fuchs and Kane will executive produce along with the Muschiettis, with Andy eyed to direct the premiere episode for Warner Bros. Television.

The two “IT” films collectively grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office. They were the second adaptation of the property to date, the other being the ABC two-part miniseries in 1990.
