Disney+ will team with Pathe’s Aude Albano and Chapter 2’s Dimitri Rassam to create two TV series expanding “The Three Musketeers” franchise.
Both projects, titled “Milady Origins” and “Black Musketeer,” are currently in advanced development and will be spin-offs of next year’s two-part film saga “The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” and “The Three Musketeers – Milady”.
Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte’s penned the films based on Alexandre Dumas’ novel, and will act as showrunners on both series. Shot entirely on location in France with a global budget of $80 million, the films will be released in April and December next year while both series will follow after. Specific budgets, casting information and productio/release windows for the shows have not been specified.
The cast for the films includes Eva Green as Milady de Winter, Louis Garrel as King Louis XIII, Vicky Krieps as Queen Anne, Vincent Cassel as Athos, Pio Marmai as Porthos, Roman Duris as Aramis, François Civil as D’Artagnan, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as Buckingham and Eric Ruf as Cardinal Richelieu.
