“Anarchy” Creator Sets “Abandons” At Netflix

Lionsgate

“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter has scored a straight-to-series order for his Western drama “The Abandons” which has been set up at Netflix.

The story unfolds in 1850s Oregon and follows a group of diverse outlier families seeking their manifest destiny. These abandoned souls, living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back against corrupt forces of wealth and power who covets their land.

The series will explore that bloody process, the fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets. Sutter is set as showrunner and executive producer for the series.

This marks Sutter’s first series for a streaming platform and his first project outside of FX who reportedly fired him four years ago over “multiple complaints” over his behavior on the spin-off series “Mayans M.C.”.
