Harlan Coben’s Bolitar Gets A Netflix Series

Orion Books

Netflix has reportedly re-upped its original five-year overall deal with bestselling author Harlan Coben.

Whilst the original deal gave Netflix access to fourteen Coben books to develop into English-language and foreign-language series as well as films, the new deal adds four more years and adds twelve more titles.

Crucially, eleven of those titles feature Coben’s signature character Myron Bolitar. As a result, a Myron Bolitar TV series is in early development at the streamer and will keep the U.S. setting of the books.

In the books, Bolitar is a tall and handsome former top basketball player-turned-owner of agency representing sports stars and celebrities. The character’s nephew, Mickey Bolitar, is the lead of the upcoming Amazon series “Shelter” and so won’t be appearing.

Seven of Coben’s novels have been turned into Netflix limited series, but none have been American adaptations (three British, two Polish, one Spanish, one French). All are limited series, whereas the Bolitar show will be an ongoing one.

Coben adds that at least two or three other adaptations of his works are in development at the streamer.
