“National Treasure” and “Swimming with Sharks” actress Diane Kruger is set to play legendary German actress and singer Marlene Dietrich for the five-part TV series “Marlene”.
“In the Fade” director Fatih Akin helms the biographical series based on the biography “Dietrich, Meine Mutter Marlene” penned by Dietrich’s daughter Maria Riva.
Akin says in a statement: “No one could be better cast than her. Marlene wasn’t just a cinema icon, but a woman in exile, a German migrant to America, a resistance fighter and much more.”
Akin will adapt the book for the screen in his first television project whilst Kruger will also executive produce.
