Sujata Day (“Definition Please,” “Insecure”) has been hired to pen the script for another entry in the long-running sex comedy franchise “American Pie” at Universal 1440 Entertainment.
Paul Weitz directed the original 1999 film which grossed more than $235 million worldwide and spawned three sequels with the core cast along with numerous direct-to-video follow-ups under the ‘American Pie Presents’ label.
The story is based on Day’s original pitch and is being described as a fresh take on the material, but plot specifics are under wraps.
