Warner Bros. Discovery International’s chief Gerhard Zeiler says future development of the company’s DC, “Harry Potter” and “Game of Thrones” franchises are a key priority going forward.
Offering the keynote address at RTS London, Zeiler says a major goal of the company is that “we will focus probably more on the development of franchises” and reportedly flagged those particular tentpoles as potential major revenue generators in the future.
He is also confident of an improvement in cinemagoing landscape post-pandemic, though he admits that while fewer movies are successful, the big ones “have [had] much better success than anyone forecasted.”
He goes on to say: “Everyone who believed cinema is dead has been proven wrong and will be proved wrong in the future. The theatrical business is here to stay, although of course, the pandemic changed things.”
Zeiler also confirmed Warner Bros. Discovery head David Zaslav’s declaration earlier this month about a ten-year plan for DC.
