Tasmanian comic Hannah Gadsby, who broke out with the stand-up special “Nanette” on Netflix, is returning to the streaming giant with a multiple-title deal.
The deal includes a third stand-up special for the company (the second being “Douglas”), and a multiple-comic special that will showcase an international cast of six gender-diverse comedians.
The deal comes nearly a year after Gadsby blasted Netflix and co-CEO Ted Sarandos for supporting Dave Chappelle’s controversial stand-up special “The Closer,” to the point of issuing a statement that closed with the sentence: “F— you and your amoral algorithm cult.”
Gadsby’s latest stand-up set, “Body of Work,” will be filmed this week at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Australian leg of Gadsby’s latest tour. The multi-comic special will be recorded in a single run in the U.K. in 2023.
