The designers of Gun Interactive and Sumo Digital’s upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer horror game “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” pay close attention to detail – real close.
Senior Producer Ismael Vicens tells Coming Soon that the new game holds so much obsessive reverence for Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 film that a distinct light switch that appears for less than a second on screen has been incorporated into the game – it’s recreation is that detailed.
Gun Interactive, who also developed “Friday the 13th: The Game,” reportedly took multiple trips to Texas and took thousands of photos across hundreds of towns to create a thorough catalog of reference material for the title.
They tracked down the works of the designer of the original 1900s Victorian house in the film in order to help the game’s recreation of the Sawyer House, which went beyond just accurate wood type to incorporate the right kinds of birds and flowers in that area of Texas during specific times of year.
The game sees four players take the role of Victims on one team, and three players oppose them as the Family. The Victims have to survive and escape, whilst The Family must stop them by any means necessary. “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is set to release in 2023, and it will be available across PC, Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
