Disney Studios has released the first official clip for their Robert Zemeckis-directed live-action take on “Pinocchio” that premieres this Thursday as part of Disney+ Day celebrations.

In the clip, Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) tries to free the titular wooden boy from his cage, while Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) tells multiple lies, which leads to his nose growing.

Zemeckis and Chris Weitz co-wrote the script based on the classic children’s tale by Italian author Carlo Collodi. The story centers on a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a ‘real boy’.

Also starring are Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Luke Evans as the villainous Coachman, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John, and Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull.
