Three years after reuniting, Legendary Entertainment is eyeing a move away from its arrangement with Warner Bros. Discovery, according to a new report from The Ankler.
The report indicates the agreement between the two companies expired recently, and now Legendary is actively seeking a new home for its upcoming slate.
Sony and Paramount are apparently courting the company which is behind the “Godzilla vs. Kong” Monsterverse and films such as “Dune” and “Detective Pikachu”. Sony is said to be the front-runner, but Warners also has a new deal on the table.
The former relationship took a major turn last year over Warners’ decision to release its film slate straight to HBO Max in 2021. Legendary, which went to Universal in 2014 for a five-year deal, remains one of the biggest production companies around and is a major ‘get’ for any studio.
