3 Movie Tickets For National Cinema Day

Approximately 95% of U.S. cinemas and plenty of U.K. cinemas are set to participate in National Cinema Day, an inaugural event taking place on Saturday, September 3rd.

The one-day-only event was just announced by The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, and will feature all movie tickets at only $3.

That price includes all premium format screens like ScreenX, IMAX and more. More than 3,000 theaters and more than 30,000 screens in North America are participating in the event, including AMC and Regal, along with all major studios. In the UK, 550 cinemas will be participating with tickets priced at £3.

Before each showing, ticket buyers will be shown a sizzle reel of upcoming films from A24, Amazon, Disney, Focus Features, Lionsgate, Neon, Paramount, Sony and Sony Classics, United Artists, Universal, and Warner Bros.

Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in theaters but that could change with this. Organizers of National Cinema Day say this ‘trial’ event could become an annual fixture.
