Last night’s series premiere of HBO’s “House of the Dragon” is living up to its predecessor in one not unexpected way – app crashes.

HBO subscribers across social media complained about not being able to watch the premiere due to technical issues. Shortly after, an HBO spokesperson revealed the problem seemed to be heavily among viewers connecting via Amazon devices – specifically Fire TV boxes:

“House of the Dragon is being successfully viewed by millions of HBO Max subscribers this evening. We’re aware of a small portion of users attempting to connect via Fire TV devices that are having issues and are in the process of resolving for those impacted users.”

The issue has raised some eyebrows as Amazon is set to launch its lavish fantasy drama “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” next week – a show being positioned as a rival to ‘Dragon’.

HBO famously had difficulties with some episodes during the latter seasons of “Game of Thrones” as high demand overwhelms servers and bandwidth.

The network has also released an “In the Weeks Ahead” trailer for the show, along with a behind-the-scenes look at the premiere. Check out those clips below.
