Sony Pictures Classics has premiered the trailer for “Living,” a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1952 film “Ikiru” which shifts the action to a post-WW2 London in the early 1950s.
Bill Nighy plays a veteran civil servant impotently working within the city’s bureaucracy as it struggles to rebuild. His life has long felt empty and meaningless until a shattering medical diagnosis forces him to take stock and to try and grasp fulfillment before it goes beyond reach.
Kazuo Ishiguro pens and Oliver Hermanus directs the film which premiered at Sundance to strong reviews and opens in cinemas at Christmas.
