Lionsgate’s “John Wick” prequel series “The Continental,” which was originally slated to air as a multi-night event on premium cabler Starz, is moving to a new home over on Universal’s streaming service Peacock.

Consisting of three feature-length episodes, the series centers on the backstory of the titular hotel from the perspective of its manager, a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodel), who is dragged through 1975 New York City in order to face a past he thought he’d left behind and seize control of the hotel – a meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.

Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb and Mel Gibson co-star. Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward serve as writers and showrunners.

The series is expected to debut on the streaming service in 2023 alongside all three of the prior “John Wick” films. As a result of the move, the series have a much larger promotional push with all of NBCUniversal’s marketing weight behind it.
