Tydal Productions and Lonely Production are teaming for the live-action high-seas thriller and Taiwan-Czech co-production “Malice”.
The film begins on the ocean when an accident whilst chasing a giant swordfish takes the life of Captain Fu’s elder son.
Four years later and on the verge of retirement, Fu is approached by a war refugee and expert harpooner named Ruan, who tells him that the giant fish is still out there.
The pair, and Fu’s youngest son, begin an obsessive journey to catch and kill the giant swordfish – a trip that will claim at least two lives.
Lungyin Lim (“Ohong Village”) will direct the project, whilst SheeHeng Kuek and Ivy Shen Yu-hua will produce through their Aview Images label.
Shooting, which is expected to be done on Super 16 mm with digital VFX, will begin in December next year.
