After handling both “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” for Marvel, filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo won’t be returning to direct the next “Avengers” films.

Hot on the heels of the announcement of two more essentially back-to-back “Avengers” films in 2025, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige spoke with Deadline and confirmed to the outlet the Infinity War/Endgame helmers won’t be involved with the new films:

“They’re not connected to it. They’ve been very direct about that. We love them. They love us. We want to find something to do together, it’s not this.”

The Russo Brothers recently directed Netflix’s “The Gray Man” and have a very busy slate with at least three projects ahead of them – preventing them from committing to any Marvel projects for a while. The outlet’s sources also confirm they’ve heard that there has been no talks between the Russos and Marvel on the new Avengers films.

Feige also spoke with MTV News and confirmed they have plans for Harry Styles’ Eros/Starfox: “Yes, the adventures of Eros and Pip is something that is very, very exciting for us.”

He also indicated the MCU is moving forward along three different angles for its heroes – supernatural (Doctor Strange, Blade), street level (Daredevil, Spider-Man), and cosmic.

It’s expected some more MCU-related announcements will be coming with the D23 Expo which is set to take place on September 9-10th.
