Filming has officially begun on Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” with the movie’s official Twitter account posting a photo of the clapboard to mark the start of principal photography.
The new film will adapt the second half of Frank Herbert’s famed novel which is likely to be a bit more experimental and weirder as most of the heavy lifting and exposition is now out of the way.
The new film also brings in several new characters including Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as his daughter Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Baron Harkonnen’s lethal nephew Feyd-Rautha, and Lea Seydoux as the Bene Gesserit sister Margot.
They join returning cast members like Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin. “Dune: Part Two” is currently targeting a November 2023 release.
