Netflix Planning More “Fear Street” Films

Fear Street Trilogy Sets July Airdates

Netflix is reportedly deep into development on new “Fear Street” films according to Bloody Disgusting.

R.L. Stine wrote the original book series on which the successful trilogy of R-rated young adult period slasher films was based on. The films, all directed by Leigh Janiak, debuted just a week apart from each other last July.

While Netflix stayed fairly quiet on the viewership of the films, it sounds like it was successful enough to explore further. Stine told Yahoo recently:

“I… hear rumors about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer. Those films kind of shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting slashed. I was like, ‘Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!'”

Bloody Disgusting subsequently confirmed those rumors are true, but Netflix has yet to make any official announcement on any such follow-up.
