Swiss actress Souheila Yacoub (“Climax,” “No Man’s Land”) has joined the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” for Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary.
Yacoub will play Shishakli, a sandworm rider among the Fremen who provides Paul with the hooks that are necessary for the activity during his trial. Said hooks are Shishakli’s own and “have never failed”.
The minor role was written as a man in the books but is being gender-swapped for the film. Yacoub will join the all-star ensemble that includes Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya and Josh Brolin who are all returning while Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Austin Butler are joining.
Denis Villeneuve is back to write, direct and produce. Jon Spaihts will return to co-write with Villeneuve. Production will take place across much of the next few months ahead of an October 20th 2023 release.
