DiMaggio Didn’t Get A “Futurama” Raise

Dimaggio Offers Update On Futurama
20th Television Animation

Earlier this year came the news that Hulu’s planned twenty-episode revival of animated comedy “Futurama” had hit a speedbump when Bender’s voice actor John DiMaggio wasn’t including in the list of returning castmates.

The actor revealed on social media he opted not to return, saying he belived both he and his co-stars deserve higher pay. A month later though, a deal had been worked out and he was confirmed to be returning.

It was assumed Hulu and DiMaggio negotiated a deal and he got his request for a raise. However whilst attending Phoenix Fan Fusion today, DiMaggio reportedly revealed (via Slashfilm) that he didn’t receive any financial bump – but did get appreciation from his colleagues and peers:

“People are like, ‘I’m so glad you got more money!’. I didn’t get more money. But what I did get was a lot of respect, and a lot of head nods from people who are like, ‘Yo bro, I see you and thank you.’ [It was] quite rewarding… trying to get money out of Disney is like trying to get blood from a stone — you ain’t gonna get it.”

“Futurama” will return on Hulu with new episodes in 2023. DiMaggio will join entire original Planet Express crew who are back alongside creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen.
