Earlier today came confirmation that Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions had three more screen adaptions on the way – a Netflix “Horizon: Zero Dawn” series, an Amazon “God of War” series, and a “Gran Turismo” project that currently didn’t have a home.

It was assumed the latter was another series, but now it has been confirmed by Deadline that no such series is planned – rather the car racing game’s scripted screen take will be a film.

In addition, “District 9” and “Elysium” filmmaker Neill Blomkamp is reportedly being eyed to direct the project which is currently in very early development. Story details are being kept under wraps.

Created by Polyphony and Kazunori Yamauchi in 1997, the series has sold more than 85 million copies and has been hailed for its driving physics and attention to detail. The most recent entry, the seventh main one in the game series, hit shelves back in March.

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions most recently collaborated on the video-game-to-film adaptation “Uncharted” which grossed more than $400 million at the global box office earlier this year.

The pair currently have a film adaptation of “Ghost of Tsushima” in the works with Takashi Doscher writing, along with multiple TV series on the way including HBO’s “The Last of Us” and Peacock’s “Twisted Metal”.
