The upcoming space horror game “The Callisto Protocol,” a project hailing from “Dead Space” creator Glen Schofield and his Striking Distance Studios label, has seen a slight creative shift.
One of the oddest elements about the game was that here you have a narrative-driven single-player dark horror/sci-fi title set on a prison colony on one of Jupiter’s moons in the 24th century.
Yet it was also being touted as being a part of the PUBG universe – the popular online multiplayer battle royale game that’s the polar opposite of ‘Callisto’ in style and approach.
Now, Schofield has confirmed on Twitter that ‘Callisto’ will “no longer take place in the PUBG Universe.”. He says the game was “originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world.”
He adds that: “we will still have little surprises for fans, but TCP is its own world, story and universe.” The title is being made for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with only a loose 2022 release date previously announced.
