The Apple TV+ service, along with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television, are reportedly planning a high-profile live-action series based on the anime “Speed Racer”.
Written by Hiram Martinez (“Snowpiercer”) and Ron Fitzgerald (“Westworld”), the series will go back to the original 1960s manga series source material. A writers room is being started up with those aforementioned two serving as co-showrunners.
The Wachowskis wrote and directed a live-action film adaptation of “Speed Racer” in 2008, but this Apple series has no connection to that.
