Chip Shortage To Last Into 2024?

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has reportedly warned that the global semiconductor shortage is now likely to last until 2024.

Talking with CNBC (via PSU), Gelsinger reportedly says he’s revised his previous estimates of the shortage not ending until 2023 – predicting now it will last into 2024.

The shortage has caused production issues and turned items like PC graphics cards, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X into hard to find commodities.

Gelsinger says the reason for this is that: “key manufacturing tools aren’t as readily available as hoped. That’s part of the reason that we believe the overall semiconductor shortage will now drift into 2024, from our earlier estimates in 2023, just because the shortages have now hit equipment and some of those factory ramps will be more challenged.”
