Filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed on social media that he wrapped production on “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” for the Disney+ service this past week.
In addition, he expects “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to complete filming in the next week or so. The film, which has been shooting since late last year, will then go into post-production ahead of a May 2023 release.
The filmmaker is still in a busy period – having directed “The Suicide Squad” and its HBO spin-off series “Peacemaker” and producing the currently filming Wile E. Coyote vs. ACME movie along with planning out the second season of “Peacemaker”.
The ‘Guardians’ themselves will appear sooner than that with key roles in “Thor: Love and Thunder” on July 8th followed by the special airing in December. Gunn has also confirmed that events of the special will take place between the new ‘Thor’ and ‘Guardians’ films.
