Here we continue a new monthly section that will offer a quick go-to list of what’s coming to cinemas, VOD & SVOD services, and gaming platforms over the coming weeks.
This isn’t a complete list, rather it’s one showcasing the major and some minor titles of note. The titles are separated by date and ordered with films first, then TV, then games.
May sees the beginning of the Summer film season with Marvel’s “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” and the highly anticipated “Top Gun: Maverick,” along with the “Firestarter” remake, the “Downton Abbey” film sequel, the reimagining of “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers,” Alex Garland’s new film “Men,” the WW2 tale “Operation Mincemeat,” and the “Bob’s Burgers Movie”.
On the TV front the biggest launches are the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” mini-series and the first season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” along with the returns of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and HBO’s “Hacks”.
There are numerous high profile mini-series this month like Mike Myers’ “The Pentaverate,” the Emmy Rossum-led “Angelyne,” the Bill Skarsgard-led “Clark,” the Colin Firth and Toni Collette starring “The Staircase,” the Keira Knightley and Tom Hiddleston-led “The Essex Serpent,” the Jessica Biel-led “Candy,” and the JK Simmons and Sissy Spacek-led “Night Sky” along with “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” “Now and Then,” “Conversations with Friends,” “Pistol” and more.
There’s also the launch of new series “Bosch: Legacy” and “The Lincoln Lawyer” both based on Michael Connelly’s novels, a revival of “The Kids in the Hall” and a spin-off of “Nancy Drew”. Finally comes the return of ongoing series like “Love, Death + Robots,” “Tehran,” “The Circle,” “Girls5eva” and “The Wilds”.
The gaming front continues to be thin on the ground this month with the stylish B&W samurai game “Trek to Yomi,” a fifth “Sniper Elite” main entry, and the long-awaited “Evil Dead The Game” being the only releases of note.
