Ahead of its debut next Friday, Paramount+ has premiered a textless version of the show’s opening titles and a short clip for the new series “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”.
The series follows the exploits of the U.S.S. Enterprise before the events of the original “Star Trek” series from 1966 with Anson Mount starring as Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Jess Bush as Nurse Chapel, and Babs Oulsanmokun as Dr. M’Benga.
A recent ‘Ready Room’ featurette went into details about the show ranging from production issues, like shooting the pilot with an unfinished Enterprise set due to COVID-19 issues, to overall aims of tone for the show which is very much episodic. Showrunner Akiva Goldsman says:
“‘Strange New Worlds’ will unite fans new and old with the experience of commonality, and with adventure, and of joy. Because ultimately, ‘Star Trek’ is at its heart optimistic and foot-forward when it comes to the future.”
“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” debuts on Paramount+ on May 5th.
