Netflix has announced a June 24th global premiere date for “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area,” its South Korean remake of its smash Spanish crime drama “Money Heist”.
The story begins as North and South Korea are on the verge of a peaceful reunification after nearly eighty years of division. But as the nations prepare to print a brand-new unified currency, a heist is hatched.
A genius strategist known as the Professor assembles a motley crew of top-tier thieves from north and south in an attempt to steal the new currency straight from the mint.
The twelve-episode series is directed by Kim Hong-Sun and stars the likes of Yoo Ji-tae (“Oldboy”), Kim Yunjin (“Lost”), Park Hae-soo (“Squid Game”) and Jeon Jong-seo (“Burning”).
The original Spanish series ran from 2017-2021 and produced a total of 41 episodes.
