Netflix has set a May 13th premiere date for David E. Kelley’s TV series “The Lincoln Lawyer,” a ten-episode series adaptation of Michael Connelly’s novels about Los Angeles-based attorney Mickey Haller.

Manuel Garcia Rulfo (“6 Underground,” “Widows,” “The Magnificent Seven”) plays Haller who runs his legal practice from the back of his Lincoln Town Car. In the series, Mickey returns to Los Angeles and finds himself dragged back into practising law along with solving a mystery.

Mickey also has two ex-wives – Lorna (Becki Newton) whom he recently divorced, and Maggie (Neve Campbell) with whom he shares a daughter named Hayley (Krista Warner). Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, Christopher Gorham, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Michael Graziadei, and Jamie McShane co-star.

To date, Connelly has penned six novels centering on Haller. The series will avoid treading on the previous 2011 Matthew McConaughey-led film adaptation of the first Haller novel “The Lincoln Lawyer” by basing its season on the second novel “The Brass Verdict”.

Most of Connelly’s novels center on police Detective Hieronymous ‘Harry’ Bosch, who is also Haller’s cousin. While he is a character in the second novel, the TV series will not be incorporating him and thus will avoid conflict with Amazon Prime’s popular “Bosch” TV series and its upcoming IMDb TV follow-up “Bosch: Legacy”.

The series is executive produced by Kelley, Ted Humphrey, Michael Connelly, and Ross Fineman. Humphrey also serves as a\\ showrunner.
